Trustonic advances collaboration with NXP Semiconductors to help OEMs meet demanding IoT and automotive security requirements

Trustonic partnes NXP

Innovative cyber security technology business, Trustonic, has advanced its partnership with NXP® Semiconductors, a leading manufacturer of semiconductors to enable OEMs to meet advancing security requirements.

Having joined the NXP partner program in 2022 to bring a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE)  to NXP’s S32G GoldBox, which includes hardware-based security and is one of the manufacturer’s most widely used chips within the global IoT automotive sectors,  Trustonic has now advanced its collaboration with NXP with its i.MX based OrangeBox Connectivity Domain Controller platform.

As such, OEMs will now have access to a pre-integrated fully certified Secure OS solution underpinned by Trustonic’s TEE – Kinibi – which will ensure they can meet evolving industry regulations and security standards on NXP’s i.MX applications processor platform.

Jim Bridgwater, Senior Director of Product Marketing, Automotive Edge PL, explained: “NXP is delighted to welcome Trustonic as an OrangeBox ecosystem partner. This collaboration enables customers developing automotive wireless connectivity platforms with the solutions they need to develop secure products and services. The Kinibi secure OS provides a wide range of capabilities that will enable NXP’s customers to innovate without compromise, building on the unified wireless connectivity, with advanced security at its heart, offered by the i.MX based OrangeBox.”

Having obtained the world’s first comprehensive EAL5+ certification for ‘Kinibi’ in May 2022, Trustonic’s secure platform is now deployed to over 2 billion smart devices and almost 30 million vehicles globally, with zero safety violations.

Aside from enabling device OEMs to develop and innovate with the reassurance that they are leveraging a secure world OS designed to meet the most demanding security requirements, industry OEMs who already leverage Kinibi can re-use its TAs and Services with the i.MX applications processors supported through the OrangeBox platform.

Andrew Till, General Manager of Secure Platform Trustonic, added: “Multiple industry verticals now require devices to be “born secure” and to keep the security of the device “ever green”. By bringing Kinibi to the i.MXbased OrangeBox platform, device OEMs can be safe in the knowledge that they can develop new products and services leveraging a secure world OS designed to meet the most demanding security requirements.”

Headquartered in the UK, Trustonic embeds world-leading trusted cybersecurity technology into smart devices and connected vehicles, enabling OEMs to build on robust foundations to secure revenue and power innovation.

Headquartered in the Netherlands, NXP is a trusted partner for innovative solutions in the automotive, industrial & IoT, mobile, and communications infrastructure markets. . NXP is renowned as one of the largest manufacturers of semiconductors for cars worldwide. NXP’s “Brighter Together” approach combines leading-edge technology with pioneering people to develop system solutions that make the connected world better, safer, and more secure.
