The purpose of this white paper is to distill the complexities and challenges posed by increasingly connected, interactive and contextually-aware vehicles into a framework concise enough to gain perspective on the core security principles involved.
This paper addresses five main scenarios:
- Inside the vehicle
- Cloud to vehicle
- Vehicle to vehicle
- Vehicle to infrastructure
- Vehicle to surroundings (non-infrastructure)
However, whilst it is helpful to classify various usage models into discrete categories, the reality is that these are all becoming increasingly interlinked and homogenized from a system design perspective especially as more and more automotive OEMs move towards using common hardware and software platforms across their ranges.
